Day 2
25th of April,2012. Early morning next day, Apple,
Allan and I settle in going to Camiguin via bus (point of origin: Agora
terminal), and catch 6:30a.m. trip going to Balingoan. A two-hour travel is
enough to be charged before taking into extremes. Fare: Php143.00
Dropping at Balingoan, the group took a tricycle to the pier
(wherein we sadly learned that we could have also reached it by walking). Well
noted. The group paid terminal and RORO’s fee before getting
inside the barge. Incredibly astonished, local children were inviting passengers in throwing some peso/s in the water while they dive and look for it underneath.
Well, the previous doesn't sound nice.
Going
back, an hour and half travel along the sea gave us enough time to relish its attractiveness
before reaching Benoni Port.

With an advance local contact, we had easily chartered a
multicab amounting to Php1,500.00 for a whole day adventure, that’s the
official chartered amount introduced by the Tourism Department. That amount is
a lot affordable if you’re with a larger group.
Following the advice of our driver, the group first landed
in Katibawasan Falls. This falls is currently enhancing their amenities; no
rooms for an overnight stay. You may enjoy taking photo shots and diving within
cold water. Entrance fee :Php15.00 for adult.

Katibawasan's welcoming signage |
Like most of falls do, this one is surrounded with flat and gigantic rocks at its side.Katibawasan Falls is a rather tall, thin waterfall, and quite beautiful. It
is well worth the effort to see it.
After 30 minutes of enjoying the place, we decided to go to
the resort where we thought we could stay because of its reasonable room rate,
to drop our backpacks. We paid Php400.00 for an “amakan” type of room with 4
single beds inclusive of comfort room, 1 electric fan, and lights of course. But
I gotta tell you, this resort is located not so far from a public cemetery,
it’s so near in a plane landing area where there are no lights at night, it has
very less visitors, no shoreline, and away from the highway.
Continuing
the journey, we quickly ate our lunch in a nearby carinderia and hop into our
next destination, Sto. Niňo
Cold Spring Resort.

Here we are! Getting in.. |
|
Its wide, wide, wide pool |
Sto. Nino Cold Spring is situated in the west coast of Camiguin. Indeed, the place is colorful and has been renovated with clean cottages and tables. Its crystal clear spring water will definitely give you reason
to jump and stay longer in the water until you shivers. Its surrounding green-park is well-maintained. Entrance
fee: 20.00 for adult
Next stop, Old Church Ruins.
Old
ChurchRuins lays in Barangay Bonbon, Catarman, Camiguin. Historically,
the structure was made of Coral Stones built last 16th century but said
to be damaged 'coz of volcanic eruption.

Presently, the ruins of the church is preserved by the local government and considered one of the most visited spots. It has a nearby mini-chapel for locals and tourist served as prayer house. It is covered with green vermuda where leisure and fun can be done. Huge trees were intentionally built to served as fence for security. No entrance fee here.
Not so far from the Ruins church is the famous
Sunken Cemetery-- marked by its huge cross located in the middle of the sea.
As mentioned by one of the locals, remnants of the structures and gravestones of the cemetery buried underneath the sea due to the volcanic fissure and volcanic eruptions.
It is here where the famous
Philippine movie Ouija with Judy Ann Santos took a shoot. Funny because we paid
Php20.00 each for the boat fare whose travel won’t even last for 5 minutes.

one of those great shot:) |
But the
greatest and memorable experienced here was, the hired banca driver was also our
best photographer. I remember our driver giving us instructions on what to
post, how to post and even when to follow. Surprisingly, the 2-in-1
driver/photographer had a very good accent in saying “1,2,3 smile”—good diction
and enunciation I must say. This made the place more memorable and should not be taken for granted. Great experienced.
An estimated 30-minute stay was already a blast, night was coming and body were almost reaching its retirement - but we never failed to drop-by in
Walkway to the Old Volcano and Stations of the Cross
The group decided to take few steps up for a little fulfillment. Its the most religious spot here. Minutes later, we're gone because were pressed for time and we badly need to catch up our last destination for that day.

More stations upstairs:) |
|
the fulfilling steps:) |
After an hour travel, finally, we've reached Ardent Hibok-Hibok Spring Resort - situating at the foot of Mount Hibok-Hibok, Mambajao, Camiguin. Night came and the entrance view was really a disappointment, but contrary to what you'll about to witness inside it - is a slam worth the stay.
It's then when the group decided to withdraw in the resort where we should be staying, and keep it in here.
As for the gastronomic pleasure, we never worried about it, they have their
own restaurant in which you can fill your craving for its inexpensive
gastronomy cuisines.
