My First Ostrich Dish Experience

Right in the city of golden friendship lays one of the most famous restaurants where their sumptuous ostrich recipe and other native Filipino cuisines are famed about- Kagay-anon Restaurant situating in Limketkai Center, Cagayan De Oro City.

My buddy suggested to try their ostrich cuisines from the menu- so we ordered “OSTRICH ALA POBRE”, got curious how it will taste because the meat is incomparable to beef, while thinking that this large bird would taste the same like chicken.

Savory "Ostrich ala Pobre"

Does it looks like a beef? Here I have proven that all my thoughts were wrong. Its meat is leaner than any other meat I’ve commonly known. It has juicy taste and maybe because the restaurant has a very good cook, the dish turns .01% to perfectness, no overpowering taste of seasonings, just enough to savor the taste of meat and its additives.

Yummy "Kinilaw na Malasugue"

Here’s another recommended dish which every Filipinos love, “KINILAW NA MALASUGUE” placed in a huge shell. Yumminess!  You can actually choose what fish you want coz they have tangigue (mackerel) or malasugue (blue marlin), it’s all up to you.

After having that lunch, I came to sit and surf a little information about what I’d eaten. Based on readings, ostrich is good for the heart as approved and recommended by the American Heart Association because it has low fat, cholesterol and sodium values compared to other meats. Hmm, healthyJ
